Degree Requirements

Warrington College of Business Administration


Seniors must submit a degree application to the Office of the University Registrar, Criser Hall, Room 222, by the deadline for the semester during which they expect to graduate. Degree applications are only valid for one term. Students must satisfactorily complete the following requirements to graduate from the Warrington College of Business Administration:

  • Course Requirements: Students must complete all of the following college-specific requirements: General Education, Gordon Rule writing and math, CLAST, preprofessional, core, major (B.S.B.A. only) or area of specialization (B.A.B.A. only) courses, required non-business electives (B.S.B.A. only), and required business electives (B.A.B.A. only). Courses used to meet these college-specific requirements may not be taken S-U.
  • Credit Requirements: Students must earn a minimum of 120 semester hours as calculated by the college. Waiving any required course does not reduce the total hours required for graduation.
  • University of Florida Grade Point Average: An overall GPA of 2.0 or higher is required in course work attempted at the University of Florida.

  • Business Core Requirement: B.S.B.A. and B.A.B.A. students must have a business core GPA of 2.0 OR a grade of C or higher in all seven business core courses.
  • Major/Area of Specialization Requirement: B.S.B.A. students must have a major GPA of 2.0 OR a grade of C or higher in all course work required for the major. B.A.B.A. students must have an area of specialization GPA of 2.0 OR a grade of C or higher in all course work required for the area of specialization.
  • Required Non-Business Electives: All B.S.B.A. majors (except CIS and Online General Business) are required to earn at least 12 credits from the following categories of courses offered by other UF colleges: 3000/4000-level courses or 1000/4000-level foreign language courses. B.S.B.A. students may utilize one Online B.S.B.A. professional development course to fulfill part of this requirement. Other courses with sufficient academic rigor will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Required Business Electives (B.A.B.A. only): B.A.B.A. students are required to take at least 12 credits of 3000/4000-level business courses beyond the core. B.A.B.A. students may utilize one online B.S.B.A. professional development course to fulfill part of this requirement. All of these courses must be taken in residence at the University of Florida.

Residency Requirements

All business core, major (B.S.B.A.), area of specialization (B.A.B.A.), and B.A.B.A. business elective courses must be taken in residence at the University of Florida or during an approved study abroad program. In addition, the last 30 hours to be applied toward a degree must be completed in residence in the college. This requirement may be waived only in special cases and must be approved in advance by the college’s Undergraduate Petitions Committee.

Students who have taken equivalent course work at another Florida public institution will be required to either retake the course at UF or, subject to the approval of the college’s Undergraduate Petitions Committee, take a higher-level course in the same subject area. Additional semester hours are not earned when repeating equivalent courses.

Satisfactory-Unsatisfactory Option

All business core and major (B.S.B.A.) or area of specialization (B.A.B.A.) course work may not be taken S-U.

Correspondence Study and Dual Enrollment

Students are not allowed to dual enroll between UF and another institution.

Students must have prior approval of the college's Undergraduate Petitions Committee to use correspondence courses to fulfill degree requirements. If approved, students may not take more than six semester hours by correspondence during the final 60 semester hours required for the baccalaureate degree. Students who are on college probation may not take courses by correspondence.

Business Core Requirements

These courses are required for all B.S.B.A. and B.A.B.A. students:

MAN 3025 Principles of Management
MAN 4504 Operations Management
MAR 3023 Principles of Marketing
QMB 3250 Statistics for Business Decisions

Electives

B.S.B.A. students (with the exception of CIS and online general business) are required to earn at least 11- 12 credits of 3000/4000-level non-business courses or 1000/4000-level foreign language courses. Students may utilize one professional development course (GEB 3035 Career Managemnet or GEB 3213 Professional Writing in Business) to fulfill part of this 12-credit requirement. Other courses with sufficient academic rigor will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Beyond these 12 credits, B.S.B.A. students can take any 1000/4000- level course to complete the 120 credit hour requirement for graduation.

B.A.B.A. students can use any 1000/4000-level course to fulfill elective requirements.

B.S.B.A. and B.A.B.A. students are strongly encouraged to consider using their free electives to obtain a minor outside the college or develop proficiency in a foreign language.

General Education Requirements

Although the university requires completion of General Education requirements for all undergraduate degree programs, each individual college determines the manner in which its students must fulfill these requirements. The General Education requirements for the B.S.B.A. and B.A.B.A. degrees are as follows:

Courses with an international/diversity focus may overlap with other requirements. Students are also encouraged to choose General Education courses that satisfy the university’s Writing and Math Requirements.

* Successful completion of all business preprofessional and core courses satisfies the Social & Behavioral Sciences (S) and Mathematics (M) requirements.
