College: Liberal Arts and Sciences
Degree: Bachelor of Science
Hours for Degree: 120
Specializations: Basic Botany, Preprofessional Botany (for students who intend to pursue graduate, dental or medical schools)
Minor: Yes
Combined-Degree Program: Yes
Website: www.botany.ufl.edu

Students can major in botany in the colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences or Agricultural and Life Sciences, and should consult the undergraduate coordinator in botany as early as possible. Students who want a B.S. in botany can pursue the basic or the preprofessional (i.e. for graduate school, dental school or medical school) specialization.

Accelerated B.S./M.S. Degree Program: Consult the graduate coordinator.

Biology Education Program: Students who plan to teach biology in secondary education programs can major in botany and should consult the undergraduate coordinator.

General Education: Seven botany courses are authorized for general education. Those recommended for non-science majors (no prerequisites) are Introductory Botany (BOT 2010C), Practical Plant Taxonomy (BOT 2710) and Plants in Human Affairs (BOT 2800). Other courses (with prerequisites) are BOT 2011, BOT 3151 and PCB 3034.
