Majors
To graduate, students majoring in political science are required to take 3 of the following 4 core courses: POS 2041, American Federal Government; CPO 2001, Comparative Politics; POT 2002, Introduction to Political Theory; and INR 2001, International Relations. Thirty semester hours in political science with grades of C or better are required for the major, at least 15 of which must be taken at the university. Students can also receive political science credit for ENC 3254, Writing in Political Science. No more than 12 hours of political science course work at the 2000 level may be taken for major credit. In addition to these 30 hours in political science, one semester of statistics (e.g. STA 2023) is required, with a grade of C or better. See the undergraduate coordinator in Anderson Hall, Room 234, for further information about the major.
International Relations: Political science and non-major students can pursue undergraduate training in international relations in two ways: Students can select an interdisciplinary program that includes courses on comparative politics and international relations or they can pursue a certificate in international relations. Further information on the interdisciplinary option can be found at http://web.clas.ufl.edu/ids/. Students also can refer to the Interdisciplinary Studies and the Certificate Programs sections of this document.
General Education: The department offers many courses that fulfill the H, I or S categories.
Overseas Study: The department encourages a term or year of study abroad. Students should meet with the undergraduate coordinator early in their academic careers to plan for this.

Semester 2:
- Complete 1 additional political science critical-tracking course or STA 2023 with a 2.5 GPA on all critical tracking courses and STA 2023
Semester 3:
- Complete 1 additional political science critical-tracking course or STA 2023 with a 2.75 GPA on all critical tracking courses and STA 2023
Semester 4:
- Complete 3 of 4 political science critical-tracking courses and STA 2023 with a 3.0 GPA on all critical-tracking courses and STA 2023
Semester 5:
- Complete 1 additional political science course at the 3000 level or higher with a C or better in the course and maintain a 3.0 GPA on all critical tracking courses and STA 2023
