Agricultural and Biological Engineering
Description of the Major
The curriculum emphasizes engineering solutions to problems associated with biological and agricultural systems that often are related to renewable natural resources. Knowledge is gained through formal courses, laboratory experimentation and individual experience. You will learn to utilize math, science and engineering principles, to analyze and interpret data, to design and conduct experiments, systems and components, and to effectively communicate results within an appropriate presentation style.

This is a nationally accredited ABET program.
Additional information is available from your major's website.
Before Graduating You Must
  • Pass assessment by two or more faculty and/or industry practitioners of student performance on a major design experience.
  • Pass assessment in two courses of individual assignments targeted to each learning outcome.
  • Complete an exit interview in your final semester.
  • Satisfy the Florida statutory requirements for CLAST.
  • Complete requirements for the baccalaureate degree, as determined by faculty.
Skills You Will Acquire in the Major (SLOs)
  1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering principles to agricultural and/or biological engineering problems.
  2. Design and conduct agricultural and/or biological engineering experiments and analyze and interpret the data.
  3. Design an agricultural and/or biological system, component or process to meet desired needs within realistic economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability constraints.
  4. Communicate technical data and design information effectively in writing and in speech to other engineers.
