Exercise and Sport Sciences - Physical Education

The teaching physical education specialization will lead to the Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences with NCATE-approved teacher certification. Students are prepared to teach middle or secondary school physical education. This program also is a foundation for graduate study in educational administration or curriculum and instruction. All required courses must be completed prior to internship.

To remain 'on track' for this major you must meet the following critical tracking criteria. The critical tracking courses appear in bold

.Semester 1:

  • 2.2 UF GPA required
  • Complete 1 of the 6 critical tracking courses with a 2.5 GPA on tracking coursework PSY2012, SPC2600 or AEE3030C; EDF1005; MAC1147 or MAC1140 and any statistics or MAC1140 and MAC1114; PET2320C; PET2350C

Semester 2:

  • 2.4 UF GPA required
  • Complete 1 additional course of the 6 tracking courses with a 2.5 GPA on tracking coursework

Semester 3:

  • 2.5 UF GPA required
  • Complete 2 additional courses of the 6 tracking courses with a 2.5 GPA on tracking coursework

Semester 4:

  • 2.5 UF GPA required
  • Complete CLAST score of 295 in math, reading & writing and an essay score of 6.
  • Complete all 6 critical tracking courses with a 2.5 GPA on all tracking coursework
