Exercise and Sport Sciences – Fitness/Wellness Specialist

The fitness/wellness specialization emphasizes the practical aspects of fitness and wellness. Students become exercise technicians and specialists in hospitals and corporate, private or state agencies. Students must complete a one-semester internship in one of these settings. All required courses must be completed before the internship.

To remain ‘on track’ for this major, a student must meet the following critical tracking criteria. The critical tracking courses appear in bold.

Semester 1:

  • 2.0 UF GPA required for semesters 1-5
  • Complete 1 of the 5 critical tracking courses with a 2.2 GPA on tracking course work PSY2012, (SPC2600 or AEE3030C), (MAC1147 or MAC1140 and STA2023) or (MAC1140 and MAC1114), PET2320C, PET2350C

Semester 2:

  • Complete 1 additional course of the 5 tracking courses with a 2.3 GPA on tracking course work

Semester 3:

  • Complete 1 additional course of the 5 tracking courses with a 2.4 GPA on tracking course work

Semester 4:

  • Complete all 5 critical tracking courses with a 2.5 GPA on tracking course work
