Survey of management of health care information. Topics include data sources, computer-based information management, clinical information systems and administrative information systems.

HSC 3057 Research Methods and Issues in Health Science.
Credits: 3; Prereq: STA 2023 or STA 2122.
Emphasis on four aspects of research: understanding research principles, evaluating journal articles, applying research findings to clinical settings and designing programmatic evaluation projects.

HSC 3502 Survey of Diseases and Disability. F.

Overview of medical and psychosocial aspects of chronic diseases and disability.

HSC 3662 Health Science Communication Skills and Telehealth. S.
Credits: 3; Prereq: HSC 3502.
The primary objectives of the course are to offer instruction and practice in health care communication skills and to provide an overview of key issues in healthcare communications and telehealth.

Survey of management of health care information. Topics include data sources, computer-based information management, clinical information systems and administrative information systems.

HSC 4558 Disability Management. S.

Issues in disability management, including occupational health, impact of disability, treatment strategies, general rehabilitation process, ADA, worker’s compensation and assistive technology.

HSC 4608L Critical Thinking in Health Care. F.
Credits: 4; Prereq: HSC 3502, HSA 3111 and HSC 4558.
Assists students in the development of critical thinking skills in solving problems, in the health care environment.

HSC 4653L Ethical and Legal Issues in the Health Professions. S.
Credits: 3; Prereq: HSC 3662 and HSC 4608L.
Overview of ethical and legal issues in the health professions, including contemporary ethical issues in disease management.
