Bachelor of Music

This curriculum is intended for students who plan to enter professional careers, graduate study or private studio teaching.

The Bachelor of Music offers programs in composition, music in combination with an outside field, performance (keyboard, percussion, recorder, strings, voice and winds) and theory.

B.M. in Combination with Outside Field

Students pursuing the B.M. in combination with an outside field must file an approved program with the college to attain professional standing and receive a degree. Students must earn at least a C or better in all approved outside field courses.

Combination with Outside Field

To remain 'on track' for this major you must meet the following critical tracking criteria. The critical tracking courses appear in bold.

Semester 1:

  • 2.0 UF GPA required for sem 1-5
  • Complete MUT1121, MVK 1111 and MUL 2110 with a grade of "C" or better
  • Complete 2 hours of (MV_14_ _) - Performance Principal coursework with a grade of "C" or better
  • Complete 1 hour of a MUN Ensemble course at 1000 level with a grade of "C" or better

Semester 2:

  • Complete MUT1122, MVK 1112 and MUS 1500 with a grade of "C" or better
  • Complete 2 additional hours of (MV_14_ _) - Performance Principal coursework with a grade of "C" or better
  • Complete 1 additional hour of a MUN Ensemble course at 1000 level with a grade of "C" or better

Semester 3:

  • Complete MUT2126 and MVK 2221 with a grade of "C" or better
  • Complete 2 hours of (MV_24_ _) - Performance Principal coursework with a grade of "C" or better
  • Complete 1 additional hour of a MUN Ensemble course at 1000 level with a grade of "C" or better

Semester 4:

  • Complete MUT2127 and MVK 2222 with a grade of "C" or better
  • Complete 2 additional hours of (MV_24_ _) - Performance Principal coursework
  • Complete 1 additional hour of a MUN Ensemble course at 1000 level with a grade of "C" or better
