Health Science - Rehabilitative Services

The Bachelor of Health Science program in rehabilitative services prepares graduates to work in a variety of rehabilitation-related occupations where they can advance the independence, integration and full participation of individuals with disabilities and others with service needs in the work force and community.

The rehabilitative services program is designed to prepare students to:

  • Develop skills, knowledge and values that enable them to provide quality rehabilitation services.
  • Empower consumers in the development of their personal and vocational resources.
  • Participate as an integral member of multi-disciplinary networks providing services to consumers.
  • Develop a commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth.
  • Receive a sound preparation for graduate education in rehabilitation fields.
  • Become informed citizens who are supportive of individuals with disabilities.

Opportunities have expanded for human service providers who coordinate and manage services in state and federal service agencies, rehabilitation facilities, correctional programs, youth centers, public assistance programs and programs for the aging client.

Graduates may supervise service activities, conduct intake interviews, manage community services and facilitate job re-entry and other social services activities.

The applicant must have a 2.7 overall GPA and 3.0 prerequisite GPA based on nine semester hours in psychology and sociology. The applicant also is encouraged to have volunteer experience in a human service setting.

Enrollment is based on space available in existing facilities. Admission to the professional program is considered separately from admission to UF. Students are admitted each semester.

The preferred application deadlines are May 15 for consideration for Fall admission, October 1 for consideration for Spring admission, and March 1 for consideration for Summer admission. Students submitting application materials after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis. The Bachelor of Health Science degree is awarded upon satisfactory completion of the course requirements.
