The Center for Latin American Studies is one of the oldest, largest, and best-funded centers for Latin American studies in the nation. It is designated a National Resource Center in Latin American Studies by the U. S. Department of Education.

The Center for Latin American Studies has 11 core faculty members and more than 130 affiliates from 40 departments, who teach over 227 undergraduate and graduate courses available to undergraduates in Latin American and Caribbean studies.

The Center for Latin American Studies offers a minor and undergraduate Certificate in Latin American Studies in conjunction with a bachelor’s degree in the colleges of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Architecture, Business, Education, Fine Arts, Journalism, and others through special arrangement. A major is possible by acceptance into the Interdisciplinary Major Program of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
