Recreation, Parks and Tourism – Recreation & Event Management

Recreation and event management courses and training focus on the knowledge and skills necessary to administer and manage commercial and entrepreneurial leisure service businesses. Event management courses focus on organizing and planning events and conferences. Recreation and event management concentrations include conference and special event planning, commercial recreation, and community recreation.

To remain ‘on track’ for this major, a student must meet the following critical-tracking criteria, which appear in bold.

Semester 1:

  • 2.0 UF GPA required for semesters 1-5
  • Complete 1 of 8 critical-tracking courses (PSY 2012, SYG 2000, ECO 2023, MAR 3023, MAN 3025, (ENC 2210 or AEE 3033C or ENC 3254), (EDF 3110 or DEP 3053), (SPC 2600 or AEE 3030C)

Semester 2:

  • Complete 2 additional critical-tracking courses

Semester 3:

  • Complete 3 additional critical-tracking courses

Semester 4:

  • Complete all 8 critical-tracking courses
