Nursing

Plan for University of Florida On-Track BSN Students

To remain ‘on track’ for this major, a student must meet the following critical-tracking criteria. The critical-tracking (preprofessional) courses appear in bold.

Semester 1:

  • 3.0 overall GPA on work from all institutions
  • Complete CHM 1020 with a grade of C or better

Semester 2:

  • 3.2 overall GPA on work from all institutions
  • Complete DEP 3053 or EDF 3110 with a grade of C or better

Semester 3:

  • Complete PET 2320C and MCB 2000 with a grade of C or better
  • 3.3 overall GPA & 3.3 GPA on all critical-tracking (preprofessional) courses

Semester 4:

  • Complete PSY 2012, CHM 1021, STA 2023, HUN 2101, PET 2350C and any SYG* course with a grade of C or better
  • 3.3 overall GPA on all critical-tracking (preprofessional) courses
  • Students must provide a statement of professional goals and summary of relevant academic leadership and service experiences. These factors will be considered in admission decisions.

Transfer Students

For application information, all transfer students should refer to the admission section of the catalog, "Admission as a Transfer Student," and meet all university and college-specific requirements. Applicants from other institutions who have satisfied minimum requirements will be considered for admission at the junior level on a space-available basis.

Minimum Application Requirements for Florida Community College Transfer Students

  • Associate of Arts degree
  • Completion of two sequential courses of foreign language in secondary school or 8-10 semester hours at the postsecondary level, or documentation of an equivalent level of proficiency
  • Completion of required preprofessional course lab
  • An overall GPA of at least 2.8
  • A GPA of at least 2.8 in required preprofessional courses
  • A grade of C or better in all required preprofessional courses
  • Fulfillment of the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) requirement
  • Satisfactory completion of communication and computation requirements

Minimum Application Requirements for Transfer Students from Other Universities

  • Completion of 60 semester hours of required General Education and preprofessional course work
  • Completion of two sequential courses of foreign language in secondary school or 8-10 semester hours at the postsecondary level, or documentation of an equivalent level of proficiency
  • An overall GPA of at least 2.8
  • A GPA of at least 2.8 in required preprofessional courses
  • A grade of C or better in all required preprofessional courses
  • Fulfillment of the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) requirement
  • Satisfactory completion of communication and computation requirements

Required Prior to Enrollment in Junior-Level Nursing Courses

  • Certification in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for health care providers
  • Compliance with college health policy requirements and immunizations
  • Personal health insurance
