College of Public Health & Health Professions Degree Requirements

Students must satisfy all college and university degree requirements for their major and track in order to graduate. College requirements include completion of 120 semester hours with a 2.0 GPA, completion of all core courses and college electives with grades of C or better, satisfactory completion of all approved and general electives, and completion of a college evaluation form. In order to graduate in the desired term, students also must turn in a completed graduation application form to the UF Registrar’s Office by the university deadline (published in the Schedule of Courses.) The degree application form is available from the Registrar’s Office.

Dean’s List

The dean’s list recognizes outstanding academic achievement at the completion of each semester. Students included on the dean’s list have a GPA f 3.65 or higher on a full-time curriculum of graded course work. Students receiving a final grade of U or a failing grade may not be considered for the dean’s list, regardless of overall grade point average.

Honors

There are three levels of honors: cum laude, magna cum laude and summa cum laude. Students with a minimum 3.5 GPA in the junior/senior years are considered for cum laude recognition based on a review of the overall academic record. Students are eligible for magna cum laude or summa cum laude with a junior-senior GPA of 3.75 and 3.85, respectively, and completion of the Honors Seminar (HSC 4969) and Honors Thesis (HSC 4970) course, which must include successful completion of a special project of high quality, evaluated by program faculty. The project can be a thesis, research project or other creative work agreed upon by the faculty supervisor. Postbaccalaureate students are not eligible to receive honors recognition. Guidelines for completion of the honor’s thesis are available in the dean’s office.
